I Love to Ride

There is something immensely satisfying about movement in masturbation. Is it anatomical or simply  more satisfying as an involved experience? Lying on your back (or front) and working a sex toy against your body does the trick but any movement involving pelvic thrusts just does the trick. We first encountered a purpose built rocking sex toy with the Rock ChickVibrator many moons ago, which felt like learning to ride a bike but was rewarding once an individual technique was mastered. Although the Rock Chick remains a firm favourite of ours, times change and with it the arrival of the dual stimulating rocking ride of the iRide hands free sex toy for those that like masturbation that works up a sweat.
iRide has the same dual stimulation concept but has worked this design into a saddle to ride. There is a 4" 'phallic' insertion on the top of the saddle with clitoral nub to the front for massage of the labia. Thinking back to pony riding days the basic riding techniques can be applied to this vibrating saddle. Rising trot works the internal shaft with a base sturdy enough to squeeze with the thighs, a brisk canter works the vibration into thighs, clitoris and vagina whilst a gentle walk tilts the pelvis along the saddle body taking advantage of the highest level of vibration.
Tilting the pelvis takes full advantage of the sensitivity of the clitoris and massaging the entire length against the ridge of iRide leaves no stimulating nerve ending untouched.
The hands free part of this toy also allows you to concentrate on other areas of your body or your partners. The next time you promise some oral pleasure to your partner hop on the iRide and it will make the experience so much more interesting!

Fun Factory Fever

Spring is in the air and we have been selecting our favourites from the new and exciting re-vamped range of Fun Factory sex toys in time for the Vernal Season. Its great to see that Fun Factory have extended their range to include some recognisable (and preferable) toys, such as Tango a dual stimulating vibe which appeals far more than Paul & Paulina did (sorry we took it off the shelves it looks like a over sized maggot). The improvements are not just in aesthetics but also in power and efficiency, poor old Mary Mermaid (now discontinued) didn't have a booster button in the base to propel us to dizzying heights of ecstasy faster than a formula 1 race car. The choice of function has expanded whilst noise level  and power and never been so impressive.
Another exciting area of development has been Fun Factory's dedication to male pleasure most notably in the production of both Duke and the Cobre Libre. Feedback on the Cobre has been quite incredible and has led to a never before penis envy in the office whilst Duke takes the concept of the prostate massager and injected a German engineering that makes it an indispensable accessory for the discerning male.
Fun Factory are still crafting battery charged sex toys but have also developed a Click 'N' Charge technology which offers the choice of some brilliant re-chargeable vibrators. On the face of it the concept seems a little complicated but its really easy to use and eliminates the need to dispose of a stock pile of batteries.
Simply put, when you first buy a Click N Charge Vibrator you need to purchase one of these:
The plug part of the charger is pushed into the socket as per normal whilst the magnetic disc is placed against the corresponding part of the toy. Leave to charge and then enjoy about 90 minutes of buzz before repeating the process. You only need one charger for all the Click 'N' Charge range so after spending the £4.99 there is no extra cost (unlike the numerous packs of Duracell on conventional toys).
We haven't yet finished our additions and look forward to adding the fabulous G4 vibes and Yooo before the Summer arrives.

The Question Of Sex Education

I have worked at The Boudoir for 4 years and have listened to many women talk about how they struggle to enjoy orgasm. At the same time over the past couple of years my 14 year old daughter has been attending sex education at school (sorry PHSE). Why are women so good at faking orgasm? Because sex education from the age of 12 teaches us all the methods of procreation without explaining about how to enjoy sex as recreation. Only with sexual experience do many women realise that although the text book motions are gone through an orgasm can be a long time coming if it ever graces us with its arrival at all. Biology may form an important part of sex education, but considering the number of times you actually try for a baby (in some cases never) and how often you enjoy sex as a pleasurable pursuit wouldn’t it be prudent to really explain to girls how to enjoy their body. Confidence in your body engenders a self-knowledge and self-respect that can only be positive to females, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Never once is a girl shown in an educational environment which part of her body needs attention for orgasm and instead the quality of information received is dependant on how lucky you are in the parental communication or sensible friend stakes.
What a con! Mrs Lockyear never mentioned the clitoris in year 2 when she was showing us how to put a condom on a banana.
My best friend showed me her clitoris under a drama box when she was 13 and told me she used a plethora of apparatus to stimulate it. She wanted me to ask my mum if it was ok, which I did and luckily she told us it was healthy to enjoy your own body but be careful with the apparatus – good old mum!
There seems to be two types of sex education, the first anatomical/biological version that ensures the proliferation of the planet (as we are so desperately in need of more people) and the second experiential lessons you learn (good ones if you are lucky) about how to enjoy your body alone or with a partner.
It may not be high on the agenda at the moment but wouldn’t we benefit from a re-think on the sex education front?

My Valentine

I was rushing into work this morning and bumped into an acquaintance of mine who insisted in stopping for a chat. Conversation rolled around to Valentines day and she said that after 28 years of marriage her husband bought her two dozen red roses. He had quite blatantly got it wrong! This lady has no idea I work with sex toys which was even more amusing considering she told me that for weeks she had been dropping hints that she desired a vibrator. Adamant that she had even given him direction on the type of vibrator she wanted, the blooms when they arrived, were in fact something of a disappointment.
Often the pressure of Valentine can make a potentially positive event fall flat on its face. The build up, pressure to perform, choosing the right gift, communicating the correct sentiment or longing to make the day or night the best the other person has experienced can lead to anxiety rather than the revelry you had envisaged.
This year I asked my husband for nothing, in fact I made it quite clear that I didn't even want a card.
Why?
If in the morning he leaves the house before I'm awake he leaves me tea in a cup with sugar, spoon and loving note. If he pops out for milk or the papers there are times he comes home with hand tied flowers. If I look tired he makes the effort to take over my tasks and cooks dinner more times to mention. These things are given to me 52 weeks of the year with no pressure or burden and mean more than an annual obligation to proffer some chocolates or over priced flowers. When it comes to sex the build up can often leave the event flatter than your attempt at Delia's Valentine Souffle. Over indulgence can leave you lethargic or reaching for the Rennie's rather than the erotic rub. The best sex I have ever had came from an unexpected spark of lust derived from a kiss, look or sweep of the hand across the thigh.
Tonight I am making some special time with my partner outside of the normal routine but in a relaxed way with a few naughty accessories of my choosing. No big gestures or fantastic display of opulence just an intimate evening that nods its head to the interest we have in pleasing each other. Whatever you are doing tonight remember to relax and Enjoy x

A Rose By Any Other Name

If you are looking for a sweet Rose for your Juliet why not opt for the long lasting option that generates pleasure for years rather than the week it sits in a vase. You may not choose to sit the Icicles No 12 Rose Glass Dildo on the side board but its pure aesthetic beauty cannot be denied. The delicate folds of petal at the tip have a distinct labial quality with a pinkish hue at the head that exudes a feminine elegance and charm. The texture and ripples of the shaft stimulate on penetration and compliment the smooth feel of hand blown glass. Heat up the glass or freeze for icy sensations whilst the massager will not shatter or break. Cleaning the glass variety of dildo is easy with a wipe over the smooth surface or by popping on the top shelf of the dishwasher.
Valentine's is rolling around and the Icicles Rose Dildo would make a welcome gift for an expectant lover, although perhaps reserve the choice for a seasoned sex toy user rather than a novice who perhaps wouldn't opt for a glass dildo from the off!

Labial Massage Techniques – A guy’s guide

We understand the clitoris can be a confusing area. Much of the network of receptive nerves are hidden from view and spread far and wide whilst the labia themselves fold and ruche in a delicate display which can seem too dainty for touch. That said, sensitivity of the clitoris is an individual thing and it always pays to ask whether more or less pressure need be applied. A clitoral vibrator is invaluable during both sex and foreplay but mastering a few manual techniques will add variety to your sexual repertoire and alter the type of orgasm she experiences. Before we begin with a couple of tried and tested massage techniques remember one golden rule, with clitoral massage ‘Less is more’ and in most cases diving for the central spot with excess purpose will probably be more uncomfortable than pleasurable!

The wishbone
You don’t have to touch the clitoris directly to benefit from its immense pleasure giving properties. Think of the shape of a wishbone and make the ‘V’ with your index and middle fingers. Slip those fingers either side of the labia. Once in position tug the fingers up and down which in turn pulls the clitoral nub under the tip of the hood (at the top of these two long lips). This is particularly good for women with a sensitive clitoral area that perhaps don’t like the central spot touched directly and also great for foreplay as prompts arousal, getting the genital area engorged and moist.

Open Palm
Another technique that uses the entire clitoral area for massage incorporates the palm of the hand. Rest the base of the palm at the top of the pubic bone where the pubic hair stops. Allow the palm to fall over the clitoral area with the fingertips touching the entrance to the vagina. Gently circle the hand over the entire area making sure that skin-to-skin contact is maintained. Ask her if she prefers the up and down or side to side motion to find out which gives her the most pleasure.

Rocking the boat
Although the clitoral tip is at the top central point of the extending labia it’s not always pleasurable to have the area massaged directly. The best way to approach clitoral massage is to use the inner fold of skin to massage over the central area and therefore allowing the sensitive nerve endings to be stimulated without making the sensation unbearable. Move the fold of skin over to the other side and back in a rocking motion massages the sensitive centre in the process and will easily build to orgasm or raise arousal for what’s to come

NB: If you are using a vibrator in this fashion you do not need to push the toy all the way to the other side and once building to the final climax holding the vibrator still and to the centre is enough to allow her to enjoy the full sensation when it arrives

A Moment of Nostalgia

I began plans for The Boudoir in 2004 much to the surprise of many who knew me and opened the on-line shop in 2005.  Challenging, rewarding, frustrating and amusing but I have yet to encounter a project that inspires such motivation and enjoyment. So much has changed since first tentatively mouthing the words 'clitoris' and 'Dildo' to the 50+ silver haired gent who headed our initial website (I recall the toe curling embarrassment) and the person today who can comfortably chat to anyone willing to hear about the day to day intricacies of running a sex toy business. As expected there have been highs and lows aplenty and if in the words of Baz Luhrman 'Advice is a form of nostalgia' my suggestion would be to only embark on such a project if persistence and patience are qualities you possess. Allowing ourselves an element of retrospection we want to take forward in 2011 all those parts of our work that we have enjoyed the most and our customers have found most useful. Our advice will expand to a greater range of specialist topics and video instruction (yes we have been brushing up on our presenting skills) with more factual reviews of popular products. Don't expect lots of corporate style footage, we have been filming female focus groups that involve brilliant yet intimate reviews I'm sure you will love. Our team has grown with like minded ladies and I am continually impressed  by the creativity of the intelligent and tenacious women I am lucky enough to work with. On a personal note and ever longing for a challenge I am enrolling on a post graduate Psychosexual Therapy qualification, but hey sleeps for wimps!
We have sourced many new brands for the year and are incorporating body and beauty lines that complement     our sex toys and accessories perfectly. Our Boudoir lingerie is expanding and notably we are incorporating much of the Baci Range during the first two months of the year, check out the lines they are gorgeous!
I love Erotic literature and have personally tasked myself with hunting out the best in stimulating fiction so watch out for a much expanded selection and due to popular demand a greater choice of instructional DVDs.
Keep an eye on Funfactory as we are incorporating their full and revised range including the click and charge sex toys. We are increasing products in all genres but will continue to pick a range which offers a choice for those looking for quality with value and those wanting unadulterated designer luxury.
There are so many plans in the pipeline, some more ambitious than others but the constant for us is the enjoyment we derive from knowing the small and significant improvements we help many to make to their sex lives. We wish you all health and happiness for 2011 and look forward to an exciting year to come.

Lelo Ignites The Senses

Lelo's luxurious Flickering Touch Massage Line and Personal Lubricant has arrived at The Boudoir. In true lelo style the sex enhancing range merges function with form in eye catching designs and intoxicating formula's you can feel confident about. Much like their sex toys range the manufacturer has maintained their dedication to quality with some degree of ostentation, as in the addition of 24k gold flakes in the Massage oil!
Lelo's Moisturising Lubricant is water-based, Glycerin and Paraben free for those interested in the content of their lube and hypoallergenic so the perfect companion to your skin and silicone sex toys. Whether using with a vibrator or your partner the Lubricant lasts the duration, therefore only a little is required as it  goes a long way.The packaging is exquisite and feels more like a cosmetics line than an intimate product.
Lelo Massage Oil as mentioned contains gold flakes for radiance with a formula combining Apricot kernel, Grape Seed and Jojoba Oils. The texture is non greasy and indeed shimmers after application. It would be ideal for use after a shower and before going out for an eye catching sheen and as it moisturises, keeps the skin nourished especially important in the Winter months. Sitting in its bottle it could be mistaken for a designer perfume and would make a gorgeous gift.  The scents of the oils really set this product apart for us, available in Balsam Fir and Bergamot, Spicy Clove and Amber or Fresh Lily and Musk. After use your skin radiates a subtle scent which doesn't over power yet cries out for you to get close and inhale the intoxicating aroma.
Lelo's Massage Candle is all natural soy wax and for those that haven't tried a massage candle before is melted before being poured onto the skin. The effect is a warming one leaving the air and your skin soft and scented. Flickering touch Massage Candle is available in Vanilla and Creme de Cacao, Pomegranate and Spicy Black Pepper and our favourite Snow Pear and Cedarwood, a real Nordic inspired aroma. Again the quality scents linger rather than overpower the skin and all of the products we tried left a soft moisturised feeling without a greasy residue.
Lelo have continued with their keen eye for design and quality throughout these accessories to pleasure and if you love all that is enduring stylish, durable and at times quite beautiful about Lelo's products you will love these.
PS: Note to all male Readers: The lady in your life will really like these products if stuck for Pressie ideas
